A 2025 review: what we accomplished and what we are bringing into 2026

A 2025 review: what we accomplished and what we are bringing into 2026

Looking back at recent years’ wrap-ups, it becomes clear that sustainability has been our guiding star for quite some time. At the end of 2023, sustainability was described as a new challenge for us, yet a great opportunity. In 2024, I noticed that it framed much of the work we did throughout that year. Summarising 2025, sustainability is still in the spotlight and we have moved from early efforts and pilot projects to standardising reused steel in several products, refurbishing hundreds of air handling units and rewinding our production chain to take back units for cleaning, upgrade and sale.

Across a variety of contexts, we have realised that we have come quite far in terms of sustainability. Together with dedicated industry partners, we are proving that circularity is advancing in HVAC, and the building industry as a whole. We highlight that sustainability must be incorporated in the decision-making process and we openly question if the sustainability work has run aground. This because we, at times, feel somewhat alone. The transformation of our industry is not something that we can do alone, but when the world’s largest HVAC exhibition failed to put sustainability on the agenda, we felt it was time to speak up.

Even though the last year’s sustainability work has been closely connected to the embodied carbon footprint of our products and solutions, energy-efficiency has continued to be our DNA together with the strive to ensure a healthy and comfortable indoor climate for people to feel good inside. We have therefore welcomed the active discussions regarding EPBD and IEQ and the revised Energy Performance of Buildings directive, which now incorporates indoor environmental quality, feels like a milestone for us.

True to our customers and experts

What truly influences our daily business is, of course, our customers. Staying true to our tradition, we have continued to elaborate on a wide range of relevant topics, such as wireless HVAC communications, cooling demands in a changing climate, HVAC design and climate ceilings and more. True to our experts, who are genuinely passionate about sharing their knowledge, we have also published their deeper explanations of technical and/or subject-specific challenges, for instance cooling coil sizing, heating from ceiling and the difference between dB and dB.

2025 in the bigger picture

The general buzz throughout 2025 has been almost chaotic, with vast amounts of content being created and published. In that context, it has been a real pleasure to continue producing genuine material directly from our knowledgeable colleagues. We have, for instance, updated our public buildings guide and our industry guide – these are now sharing practical recommendations on what to consider when designing indoor climate solutions for these building applications. We have also published new reference cases, several of them with a clear sustainability focus. A few of my favourites include the architectural challenge in Finland, the long-term partnership in Sweden, and the customised solution in Germany.

The engines behind much of the additional content this year are not just creating buzz, they actually help us sort things out and provide relevant answers to questions on early observations and trends. However, the expert recommendations on how to tackle crosstalk, how to choose the right chiller or how to provide specialised solutions build on years of experience and hence are not found there, but rather in our blog section under our new References & Insights menu.

AI said AI was the trend

And what did AI have to say about the macro trends for 2025? First of all, the answer made clear that the HVAC trends follow the global ones closely. The top mentioned trends were energy efficiency and sustainability – no surprises for us there. Nor was the third trend, AI and its predictive abilities, unexpected. However, our task for 2026 will be to better communicate how advanced AI technology is already built in, and supporting our products, systems and digital tools. Stay tuned, we’re on it!
