Swegon’s climate targets approved by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi)

Swegon is proud to announce the approval of its near and long-term science-based emissions reduction targets by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi). The SBTi has verified Swegon’s net-zero science-based targets by 2050.

In the near-term, Swegon has committed to reduce scope 1 GHG emissions a total of 42 % by 2030 from a 2022 base year.* Swegon will also increase the annual sourcing of renewable energy to 100 % by 2030. Swegon further commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services and use of sold products by 51.6 % per MSEK value added by 2030 from 2022 base year.

Swegon’s long-term target includes to reduce scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90 % from a 2022 base year*, and to continue active annual sourcing of 100 % renewable electricity through 2050.

“The validation of our targets by the Science-Based Target initiative is an important milestone for Swegon, and it demonstrates our commitment to our climate action ambitions. As a market leading supplier in the field of indoor environment solutions, we have a position to influence and inspire other organisations to take steps towards reducing their carbon footprint. The property sector accounts for a substantial environmental impact, however is working intensively to reduce their emissions. By coming together, each of us with an important role to play, we can truly make a difference", says Andreas Örje Wellstam, CEO of Swegon Group.

“We are very happy to receive this validation and to remain in line with our owner’s, Investment AB Latour, commitment to sustainability”, says Mikael Börjesson, Head of Sustainability at Swegon. “The approval is a testament to our hard work and commitment to making a positive impact on the environment. Further, our climate ambitions are not only our own, but also reflect how we work with our customers and partners”.

About the Science Based Targets initiative

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a global body enabling businesses to set ambitious emissions reductions targets in line with the latest climate science. It is focused on accelerating companies across the world to halve emissions before 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions before 2050.
The initiative is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and one of the We Mean Business Coalition commitments. The SBTi defines and promotes best practice in science-based target setting, offers resources and guidance to reduce barriers to adoption, and independently assesses and approves companies’ targets.
