Large ventilation systems can now be analysed in under five minutes, with a level of accuracy that is consistent, transparent and highly reliable. For consultants, this replaces days of repetitive work with seconds of automated calculations, freeing up time for the creative and conceptual aspects of system design. “Being first with this type of automation reflects our ambition to push the industry forward. Design Assist removes repetitive work, strengthens design quality and gives consultants more time for the creative and analytical parts of their projects,” says Sofia Rudbeck, CMO Swegon Group. The first implementation is available as a plugin for Autodesk Revit, a widely used BIM software platform, enabling seamless use within existing BIM projects. The underlying calculation engine is developed by Swegon and uses standard calculation methods working with the building data already within BIM models. “On typical projects, acoustic verification and product selection can take days of manual checks and revisions. With Design Assist, engineers can get a reliable result in minutes and spend their time where it matters, reviewing the concept, coordinating with other disciplines, and improving overall system performance,” says Michael Ward, BIM and Digital Construction Manager, Swegon Group.
